Hi everyone,
How is your Saturday going so far? I think June is a strange weather month here in Oregon. It rains a LOT here....from about October through June :) :)  Yesterday it was a high of  about 71 degrees Fahrenheit. It was also overcast and very muggy/humid. So the heat felt much "hotter" than it really was. This morning it started raining. It was beautiful. It has stopped raining for the moment. It's getting muggy/humid again.  That's okay. I have the fan going and it feels really nice in here :)
YESTERDAY WAS LAUNDRY DAY.

My weekend is shaping up to be rather quieter than usual. I did laundry yesterday.  There's a laundry room at the apartment complex, which is wonderful. We do have to pay to use it. However, I love the convenience of not having to leave home to wash my clothes.    I keep my homemade laundry powder in a big plastic container. This glass latch/hook jar is what I use when I go to the laundry room.  I refill it when needed. Click here if you like to read my post on how to make your own homemade laundry powder. If you have any questions on that, let me know. I'll answer them as best I can :) :)  This laundry powder is saving me a boatload of money :) :)

FLOWERS RIGHT OUTSIDE MY FRONT DOOR.

One of the joys of spring and summer is when things start to bloom. There is color everywhere. There's this little bush right outside my front door that has these lovely pink blooms. The blooms are about the size of my thumbnail...very tiny. However, this is a close-up so you can see the detail :) :)

MY NEIGHBOR ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE HAS A BEAUTIFUL ROSE BUSH.

The neighbor across the fence from me has a gorgeous rosebush. The roses are just starting to bloom. In a few weeks this bush will be so laden with roses, it'll start to bend towards the ground :) :)  This is what I photographed yesterday. Aren't they pretty?  I think so. These roses are so lush and just packed full of beautiful, pink petals :) :)

THS IS SHERBERT, THE HOMELESS CAT THAT ROAMS THE APARTMENT COMPLEX. HE'S ONE OF A FEW HOMELESS CATS THAT HAS ADOPTED THIS   APARTMENT COMPLEX AS HIS HOME.

Sherbert decided to check me out as I was leaving the house yesterday. I love these light purple flowers, too. aren't they just gorgeous in full bloom? Sherbert used to belong to one of the other neighbor's here in the apartment complex. The neighbor's moved out and just left him behind. That is actually a good thing, because they didn't treat him right.

He tried to "adopt" my add and I. However, in an apartment complex, we have to pay a pet deposit in order to have a  cat (or a dog). It's more than either of us can afford. It makes me sad, but in an apartment complex there are rules that have to be followed :(.  We also don 't have money to feed him . So Sherbert ignores me now, because I don't feed him.    Although he still likes to nap by the tree right near my front door ;) :) My next door neighbor feeds him...so he's not totally without. Sherbert gets better love/care/food from my next-door neighbor, than his previous owners.   However, this day, he looked so cute near the purple flowers. This is actually a good photo of him.

As soon as I find my dad's store receipt from Costco, I'll tell you all about that. We went shopping there on Thursday. It was an experience. We didn't buy a lot because we have a small refridgerator/freezer. We did score some great deals on meat and vegetables.   That's for another post.

I also found a really interesting little curio cabinet. It's probably from the 60s/70s...and it's a "not pretty brown". That will be sanded/painted white or cream...to reflect my love of all things vintage, country, romantic, Shabby Chic...etc. You get the idea ;) :)  I'll post about that later, too :) :)

Oh, thanks so much for visiting me today. I've noticed the new followers, too :) :) You always make me smile...and thanks for liking my blog enough to come visit :) :) You are always welcome. God is good and I'm thankful for each and every one of you :) :)

I do need to organize my "subjects", so people can more easily find older posts. What would you suggest? I could use some advice, because I don't know what would work best. How do you feel about one of those "search" gadgets, that let people type in a word and it brings up all-related posts with that word in it? Let me know. This might be my "computer" project for the week :) :)

That's the news from Oregon today. Extra special love and hugs, Heather :) :) :)

I have the search box on mine and it saves ME time hunting old posts.

Sherbert is adorable! As you know we have two orange cats ourselves.

Hmmm... you'll need a label for shabby chic for sure! Love that little Sherbert. And what a cute name. I'm a little standoffish to cats right now. Our Merry Pearl bit me really bad recently... a deep cat bite. Now I'm kinda leary of them all. Never saw it coming... I was holding her and she just laid into my hand and dug all four fangs into me as hard as she could. Now we're waiting to make sure she's not "sick" especially with all the skunks around here. She's gettin really skinny but I'm not pampering her with canned catfood anymore. I won't even touch her.
The flowers are beautiful and I'm so glad you have such a nice laundry room available at your complex. It's no fun having to drive a long ways to do laundry.
Okay chickadee... I better go mulch my tomatoes. Have a beautiful weekend... holykisses xoxo
I'm anxious to see how you shabby up your brown cabinet!!!

Hi Heather! The flowers are beautiful! I love the roses....we have several here, but this winter really took it's toll on them. We lost one for sure, and had to cut another by at least 1/3.

We love our kitties, too...but it is pricey to pay for food. You have the best of worlds with your "homeless" cat!

What a lovely post (as always!). I adore Sherbert. Our barn kitties get plenty of dry cat food to eat, but I always treat them to a 34 cent can of Aldi cat food every night. They love it! (ALDI is a great "budget" grocery store - don't know if you have any up in Oregon? I don't know what we'd do without it!). Sounds like Mr. Sherbert is much better off than he was with an 'official' owner! Can't wait to see your curio project! I've been low on inspiration for projects lately. Don't know why.. maybe it's been so hot so soon this year. And, you've helped me make a decision today on my laundry detergent. I made the liquid version for about a year. I got tired of doing it, plus didn't think it made my whites white enough. But, I had also tried the powder version before and I think that worked better for me. Plus, it's easier to make! And so much cheaper than buying the ready-made stuff. Thanks, Heather, for inspiring me today. Hugs to you and your Dad from Missouri! -Tammy

Ahh! Roses and other pretty flowers:)

As for the search box, I use mine quite regularly--comes in handy and has saved me a lot of time when I am looking for a specific Bible verse I might have used or a picture of a certain place. People can also search using the label feature--but sometimes I forget to add a label I later wish I had (of course one can do that later but it involves more work).

Have a great Sunday!
Blessings,
Aimee
PS: Hope all of the above makes sense--worked outside a lot of today and am SO tired:)

Hi Heather!

Love your pictures! The roses are beautiful and look a lot like the wild roses that are blooming here. Love them.

I like the name Sherbert, but it took me a few minutes to make the connection between his orange color and Sherbert...hello!!! ;) Guess I am tired.

Hope you have a wonderful Sonday!

Blessings,
Cheryl

Heather, Sherbert is adorable and I am glad his previous owners left him behind. He looks like he is very well taken care of :) Love his name!
I am jealous of temps in the 70's with rain! We have had such hot temps with no rain.
Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving your kind comments.
Hugs,
Donna

Heather,
Sweetie, how are you! I thought I was already following you but I see that I was not...I don't know what happened.
The blue plant is one that I bought at Lowe's for 2 bucks. Unfortunately, I took one without the card stuck in it. I was thinking of going to Lowe's since it is next door to me and grabbing a card from another one if any are left. LOL!
I am going to be transplanting the blue one to a different location in the garden. We went to The Flower Tent this morning. Do not know if you have any up your way and I bought a huge and I mean huge foxglove that I am going to plant in that spot. The lady there said i may be able to separate it into 2-3 plants. It was $7.98!!! What a steal. I also bought a red leafed one that is supposed to have red flowers on it when it blooms. I may be able to separate that one too. Again, $7.98!!
Thanks so much for all of your sweet comments. I am really ,finally after all these years, loving my Kitchen! I darn near killed myself doing it but it was worth it. I am anxious to see how the new light fixture will change the lighting. I do hope I like it....
Have a good weekend, honey!!

Hugs,
Deb

Want to hear something funny?! I LOVE humidity!!! That is part of the reason I loved my time in Florida SO much. Yes, it's MUCH harder to get my curly hair straight when it's humid, but I LOVE what humidity does for my skin.

Sherbert is such a cute name for a cat. I am horribly allergic to cats, so having one has never been an option. But I do think they are cute.

I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday.

Love,
Patti

Heather,
Your pictures of the flowers and Sherbert are so pleasing to look at :) I like the laundry soap recipe. That mountain of pretty pink shredded soap looks good enough to eat! Like it should be strawberry flavored candy! Yum! I'd like to make that soap. Love visiting with you :D

Beautiful pictures Heather! I love Roses so much, and that little cat looks so sweet posing like that! :-) We've had wacky weather too. But today was beautiful in the 70's and tomorrow should be the same. Good thing as we are headed to the park with our neighbors in the afternoon. Hope you have a wonderful day!!

Blessings,
Jill

Hi Heather! How are you? I really enjoyed this post. The roses are lovely but my favorite is Sherbert. What a cutie! We have a lot of stray cats around here...they all get names (and food). Have a wonderful week!

Hi Heather! I've finally made it to your blog. It's beautiful!

Okay, I checked out your post on the homemade laundry detergent... how is it working out for you? It looks like a lot of work but I'm all about saving $$ especially with a household of 5.

Your flower pictures are beautiful! Have a delightful week, my new sister friend~

Hi Heather: Love the cat story. I am glad someone is taking care of it now. I have no clue about how to organize. I don't do it for my blog. I didn't even know I should until now. Oh well, have a great week. Blessings, Martha
